Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Hunter Thomas Wallace has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges in York County. On July 9, Wallace admitted to one count of Criminal Solicitation of a Minor and two counts of Failure to Stop for Blue Lights with Great Bodily Injury before Judge Perry H. Gravely.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the York County Sheriff’s Office, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and other law enforcement agencies across South Carolina. In May 2023, Wallace contacted an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl online. Despite being informed of the persona’s age, Wallace solicited sexual activity and sent nude images. He later attempted to meet at a predetermined location but fled upon arrival without leaving his vehicle.
Wallace was pursued by law enforcement and subsequently ran a red light, causing a collision that resulted in life-threatening injuries to two individuals in another vehicle.
Judge Gravely sentenced Wallace to seven years for Criminal Solicitation of a Minor, with credit for time already served. Additionally, he received a consecutive sentence of 10 years suspended to three years probation for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights with Great Bodily Injury. Upon release, Wallace must register as a sex offender and will have his driver’s license suspended for three years.
Assistant Attorney General Anna Sharpe represented the state in prosecuting this case.
