A federal grand jury in Florence has indicted Stephen Todd Greene, 55, of West Columbia on multiple charges related to child sexual abuse. The 13-count indictment includes conspiracy to produce child sexual abuse material, production, distribution, receipt, possession of such material, and coercion and enticement of a minor into illegal sexual conduct.
The indictment details allegations that from June 2023 through September 2024, Greene collaborated with a woman in Brazil referred to as Co-Conspirator 1. They allegedly exploited her nieces, aged three and nine at the time of the indictment. Co-Conspirator 1 is accused of abusing the children in person while Greene allegedly directed and participated in their abuse virtually via livestream to his home in West Columbia.
Greene reportedly used platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, and FaceTime along with cameras installed in both his and Co-Conspirator 1’s homes for livestreaming purposes. He is accused of producing, receiving, distributing child sexual abuse material and engaging in explicit conduct on video with the minors present. According to the indictment, Greene traveled twice to Brazil for direct access to the children and transferred money to Co-Conspirator 1 through a wire service.
FBI agents from the Columbia field office arrested Greene. He was arraigned in federal court where he was ordered detained pending a bond hearing.
If convicted, Greene faces life imprisonment. The charges carry mandatory minimum sentences ranging from five to fifteen years depending on the specific offense. Additionally, he could face fines up to $250,000 and other penalties including restitution for victims’ damages and lifetime supervision post-incarceration.
The FBI’s Columbia field office continues its investigation alongside Brazilian Federal Police. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elliott B. Daniels and Elle E. Klein are prosecuting this case.
The FBI seeks information regarding additional potential victims through their hotline or website.
U.S. Attorney Bryan P. Stirling emphasized that all charges are accusations until proven guilty.
