Carlin M. Krause, a 28-year-old resident of Roanoke, Virginia, has been sentenced to over 16 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of coercion and enticement of a minor, as well as transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
According to evidence from the investigation, Krause began communicating with a 13-year-old girl via social media in October 2024. He requested that she send him child sexual abuse material and told her he intended to travel from Virginia to South Carolina and bring her back to Virginia for sex.
On October 17, 2024, Krause drove from Roanoke to South Carolina to pick up the minor. Law enforcement apprehended him while he was driving her back toward Virginia.
United States District Judge Bruce Howe Hendricks sentenced Krause to 195 months in prison. After serving his sentence, Krause will be subject to lifetime court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system.
