South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson expressed approval following a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, which he described as a victory for the constitutional balance of power. The court’s 6-3 ruling limits the capacity of local judges to block federal laws across the nation. This decision permits the enforcement of President Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship while it proceeds through lower courts.

Attorney General Wilson participated in an amicus brief supporting the stance that was ultimately upheld by the Supreme Court. He stated, “We thank the Supreme Court for siding with common sense and reaffirming that one judge should not have the power to grind national immigration policy to a halt.”

Wilson further commented on the significance of this ruling: “This is a big win for the rule of law, for the integrity of our borders, and for every American who believes in democratic accountability, not judicial activism.” He emphasized his office’s commitment to ensuring federal laws are implemented as intended, without interference from what he termed ideologically driven judicial decisions.

The full opinion of the court is available for public reading.
