South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Kevin Neil Dick, a 55-year-old resident of Sumter, South Carolina. Dick faces four charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The investigation and arrest were carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, with assistance from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service.
The case began after investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Dick distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Dick was taken into custody on January 20, 2026. He has been charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony offense in South Carolina and carries a possible penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment for each count.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case. Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
The release also clarifies that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used instead of “child pornography” because CSAM more accurately describes these crimes and avoids any implication that minors can consent to such acts.
