Bryan Michael Christie, a 49-year-old resident of Simpsonville, South Carolina, has been arrested on charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, which is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, also a member of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
The investigation began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led authorities to Christie. According to investigators, Christie is accused of distributing files containing child sexual abuse material.
Christie was taken into custody on July 24, 2025. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree under South Carolina law (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Alan Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used as a term instead of “child pornography” because it more accurately describes the abusive nature of these crimes and avoids any implication that children could consent to such acts.
