A 19-year-old Newberry resident, Theodore Keith Green, Jr., has been arrested on charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was announced by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson. The investigation was carried out by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from investigators in the Attorney General’s Office, who are also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force.
The case began after investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Green distributed and possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Green was taken into custody on October 23, 2025. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree (§16-15-410), also a felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
The press release notes that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used as a more accurate term than “child pornography,” as it better reflects the abusive nature of these crimes and avoids implying consent by minors.
