Lexington man charged with crimes related to sexual exploitation of minor

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of James Devan Martin, 34, from Lexington, South Carolina. Martin faces three charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was made by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

According to investigators, Martin solicited and engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor and sent sexually explicit images to a minor.

Martin was taken into custody on June 26, 2025. He is charged with one count of criminal solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), which is a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment; one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655); and one count of dissemination of obscene material to a person under the age of eighteen (§16-15-345), also a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Wilson emphasized that “all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
