South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Alfred Peake, Jr., a 50-year-old resident of Elgin, South Carolina. Peake faces charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was made by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Attorney General’s Office.
The investigation received support from several agencies including the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Secret Service, South Carolina Department of Corrections, and Camden Police Department. All these agencies are part of the state’s ICAC Task Force.
The investigation into Peake began following a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Peake is accused of distributing files containing child sexual abuse material.
Peake was taken into custody on July 1, 2025. He is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony offense and carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office will handle the prosecution of this case. Attorney General Wilson emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is increasingly used as a term instead of “child pornography” to accurately describe these crimes without implying consent by minors involved.
