South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Jonathon Raymond Lackey, a 38-year-old resident of Greenville, has been arrested on a charge related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, who are also part of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.

Authorities began their investigation after receiving a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Lackey distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.

Lackey was taken into custody on January 23, 2026. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to ten years in prison.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case. Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

The press release notes that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is considered a more accurate term than “child pornography,” as it avoids implying consent by victims and reflects the abusive nature of these crimes.
