South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of William Jeymari Mclloyd, 23, from Florence, South Carolina, on a charge related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was made by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in the Attorney General’s Office, with assistance from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service, both members of the state’s ICAC Task Force.
The investigation began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led authorities to Mclloyd. Investigators allege that Mclloyd distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Mclloyd was taken into custody on January 8, 2026. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. As stated by Attorney General Wilson: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is used as a term to more accurately describe this type of crime because “pornography” may suggest consent where there is none. Globally, CSAM is replacing terms like child pornography for this reason.
The South Carolina Attorney General’s office acts as the state’s chief prosecutor and legal counsel, overseeing criminal cases and consumer protection efforts statewide according to its official website. The office also provides support services for victims and works closely with law enforcement agencies across South Carolina. It collaborates with other entities on criminal prosecutions and maintains transparency through public updates and resources designed to enhance public safety.
