South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has expressed his approval of a recent decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, which permits President Trump to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C. The appellate court’s decision halts an earlier district court ruling against the President’s Executive Order, allowing the deployment while further appeals are considered.

“As a member of the National Guard for almost 30 years, I strongly support President Trump’s efforts to make Washington, D.C. safer and am thankful that the Court of Appeals agreed with our brief on the issue,” Attorney General Wilson said. “The President’s plan is completely within his authority and the right thing to do to end lawlessness in our Capital.”

Attorney General Wilson co-led a 24-state brief supporting this position.
