South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Ian Lucas Laska Zegarowski, a 32-year-old resident of Conway, South Carolina, on charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Horry County Police Department. Investigators from the Attorney General’s Office, which is also part of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
Authorities received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which led them to Zegarowski. According to investigators, Zegarowski possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Zegarowski was taken into custody on January 16, 2026. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree under state law (§16-15-410), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to ten years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case.
Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is considered by authorities as a more accurate term than “child pornography,” as it does not imply consent by victims. The term CSAM is being adopted globally for this reason.
The South Carolina Attorney General serves as the chief prosecutor for the state and oversees criminal matters including cases like these. The office also provides victim support services and publishes updates regarding its activities on its official website.
