Taylor Molic Morris, a 23-year-old Columbia resident, has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison after being found guilty of illegally possessing ammunition as a convicted felon. The sentence also includes three years of supervised release following imprisonment.

A jury convicted Morris on June 6, 2025. Evidence presented at trial indicated that Morris was involved in a shooting incident at a nightclub on Broad River Road in Columbia on June 11, 2023. According to the findings, Morris had purchased a loaded firearm about three weeks before the incident and fired it four times during the shooting, leaving behind shell casings that matched her weapon. She then fled the scene.

Authorities from the Midlands Gang Task Force had previously identified Morris as a gang member. At the time of the shooting, she was on probation for prior convictions related to strong arm robbery and bank fraud—offenses that legally barred her from owning firearms or ammunition under federal law.

United States District Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. presided over sentencing and emphasized that there is no parole in the federal system.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lamar Fyall and Ariyana Gore prosecuted the case.
