Chesterfield County man charged with crimes involving sexual exploitation of a minor

James Michael Presnell, II, a 40-year-old resident of Cheraw, South Carolina, has been arrested on multiple charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Lexington Police Department, with support from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

According to investigators, Presnell allegedly solicited and traveled to meet someone he believed was a minor and sent sexually explicit images to this individual. The arrest took place on October 27, 2025.

Presnell faces two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor, each carrying a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison. He is also charged with one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of dissemination of obscene material to an individual under eighteen, which are felony offenses punishable by up to ten years imprisonment for each count.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Alan Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
