Jaidan Latrell Alexander, a 26-year-old resident of Ladson, South Carolina, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges related to firearms and drug trafficking. The sentencing follows an investigation that revealed Alexander’s involvement in obtaining multiple firearms through a straw purchasing scheme with the help of a family member. Despite being prohibited from owning firearms due to prior convictions, Alexander was found to have actively participated in narcotics distribution.
Court evidence showed that Alexander was arrested several times while armed and that social media posts linked him to ongoing drug activities. On April 13, 2023, he exchanged gunfire outside his apartment during an attempted robbery. A subsequent search led authorities to discover firearms, illegal drugs, and equipment associated with packaging and distributing narcotics.
On August 30, 2024, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search warrant at Alexander’s residence. They recovered additional firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, drug-distribution tools such as scales and vacuum sealers, packaging materials, and more than 2.5 pounds of marijuana.
United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks imposed a sentence of 10 years in prison for Alexander. Following his release, he will be subject to five years of court-ordered supervision. Federal law does not allow parole.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Lietzow is prosecuting the case.
