South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has called on the CEOs of Alphabet and Google to reinstate Univision in YouTube TV’s base streaming package. In a letter sent Monday, Wilson was joined by attorneys general from nine other states, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Montana, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

Wilson stated: “Univision is the largest provider of Spanish-language content in the United States and the number one network among U.S. Hispanics, which makes it a vital service that needs to continue to be available on YouTube TV’s base package. It’s a lifeline for local news, cultural programming, and critical information that ensures Hispanic families are active and informed participants in our democracy.”

The letter also raises concerns about potential legal issues under state laws if Univision is removed from the basic offering. The attorneys general urge Alphabet and Google to reconsider moving Univision to a separate channel tier that would cost subscribers an additional $14.99 per month.
