South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has expressed support for the introduction of H.4756 in the South Carolina legislature, emphasizing that the measure addresses public safety and privacy concerns.

“This is not about discrimination. This is a public safety issue and a constitutional right to privacy issue,” Wilson stated.

He added, “As Attorney General, I have fought to protect previous provisos on this matter in multiple courts. And as a father of a teenage daughter, I will always work to defend the rights of women and girls across our state to feel safe in their dedicated private spaces.”

The office of the South Carolina Attorney General serves as the state’s chief prosecutor, legal counsel, and securities regulator. It oversees divisions responsible for criminal cases, civil litigation, and consumer protection. The office also provides victim support services and educational resources aimed at improving public safety and financial awareness throughout South Carolina.
