South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has expressed support for recent progress on judicial reform in the state legislature. In a statement, Wilson said, “I have always advocated that appointments to the Judicial Merit Selection Commission rest in the hands of the Governor. Reforming the JMSC and how we select judges in our state will change the imbalance of power in our judicial system in South Carolina.”

He continued, “I applaud the efforts of the House Judiciary Committee for advancing meaningful reforms in the General Assembly.”

Wilson has been active in promoting changes to South Carolina’s judiciary. He has led a bipartisan group of law enforcement officials calling for reforms, organized discussions with religious leaders, and held public forums for both voters and legislators throughout South Carolina.

In addition to these activities, Wilson testified before a House Ad-Hoc committee about the need for judicial reform.
