South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Alexander Cabal, 42, of Anderson, South Carolina, has been arrested on a charge related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was carried out by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, Cabal is accused of producing child sexual abuse material. He was taken into custody on December 25, 2025, and faces one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (§16-15-395), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case. “Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
The term “child sexual abuse material” (CSAM) is used to describe content involving minors in abusive situations. The press release notes that this term provides a more accurate reflection of the nature of these crimes compared to “pornography,” which can imply consent.
The South Carolina Attorney General serves as the state’s chief prosecutor and legal counsel, overseeing divisions that address criminal matters and provide victim support services across South Carolina. The office works with state law enforcement agencies on criminal prosecutions and offers educational resources for public safety and financial awareness throughout the state (official website). Alan Wilson currently leads the office, which also enforces laws related to consumer protection and securities regulation.
