An Anderson man has been arrested on charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson. Clifton Dwayne Standridge, 42, was taken into custody by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Anderson Police Department.

Authorities allege that Standridge engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor and produced material involving child sexual abuse. He was arrested on December 11, 2025.

Standridge faces one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under South Carolina law (§16-3-655(A)(1)), and one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor (§16-15-395). The latter is classified as a felony and carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.

Attorney General Wilson stated, “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

Officials note that the term “child sexual abuse material” (CSAM) is used instead of “child pornography,” as it more accurately describes the nature of these crimes and avoids implying any consent by victims. Globally, legal authorities are adopting CSAM to reflect this change in terminology.
