Abbeville man charged with offenses related to sexual exploitation of minors

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Timothy Cory Griffin, a 37-year-old resident of Abbeville, South Carolina. The arrest was made by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force with the Abbeville Police Department.

According to investigators, Griffin is accused of soliciting and traveling to meet someone he believed to be a minor for sexual purposes. He was taken into custody on September 19, 2025.

Griffin faces two charges: one count of criminal solicitation of a minor under section 16-15-342, which is classified as a felony and carries a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison; and one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor under section 16-3-655(B)(1).

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office will handle the prosecution of this case.

Attorney General Wilson stated, “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
